Fishing Derby
The Wood County Recreation Commission and the family who started it all both come together to hold the Parkersburg Fishing Derby every year! This special event brings in kids from all different areas ranging in ages 3-14 to compete for top prizes and learn something new! With a variety of competitions, there’s something for everyone–from beginners just starting out to seasoned pros looking for that big catch. Whether you’re a casual fisherman looking for a good time or an experienced angler aiming to win it all, this is the fishing derby you want to be a part of! It is with heartfelt regret and careful consideration that the Parkersburg Fishing Derby Committee along with Wood County Recreation announces that this year’s Derby will not take place due to ongoing and much needed improvements. Unfortunately with logistical challenges of conducting the Derby at only one single location we will not move forward this year.
The Parkersburg Fishing Derby has brought a lasting impact on the youth of our community while bringing together local businesses, sponsors, and dedicated volunteers.
We are excited to make the Derby even better next year and for future years to come!
